Freshfields boosts Amsterdam finance practice

Jeroen Thijssen, one of Holland's most senior finance lawyers, has been a partner at Nauta Dutilh since 1985. He joins Freshfields Amsterdam office as a partner.

His arrival boosts the operation, which opened in May 1999, to 14 partners and 40 associates.

Thijssen's departure from Nauta Dutilh comes only months after the resignations of chairman Henri Ophof and managing partner Job van der Have. Nauta Dutilh, along with the likes of Slaughter and May and Hengeler Mueller Weitzel Wirtz in Germany, is one of the most fiercely independent firms in Europe
