Last year was a good one for most lawyers. We hope 1998 will be as busy, but there are those who feel that it is only a matter of time before there is a slowing down in the legal marketplace. Certainly for legal aid firms, the changes likely to take place will have major repercussions for the high street practitioner.
It may also be the year when we see some major link-ups between accountancy firms and legal practices. And US firms will no doubt consolidate their UK practices and continue recruiting from their counterparts on this side of the pond.
In the meantime, we wish all our readers a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.
