Pannones hires debt team from Halliwells

Pannone & Partners has boosted its practice with a series of New Year appointments, including Halliwells head of commercial debt recovery Karl Williams, together with three of his team

They will join Pannone & Partners at the end of January.
Williams takes with him clients such as Hilti (GB), Micro Peripherals and companies within Speedy Hire. Williams' team is also joined by Alison O'Connor, a debt recovery specialist from Lupton Fawcett in Leeds.
Halliwells managing partner Paul Thomas said that his firm retained a strong debt recovery capability. “We've upwards of 30 people who spend 100 per cent of their time doing debt collection work,” he said.
Pannones has also hired Ghazala 'Dee' Sarwar, a former director of legal and business affairs for Chrysalis Visual Entertainment, part of the Chrysalis Group. Sarwar has also worked with Channel 4 and the BBC.
Last week the firm announced a half-year turn-over of £11.2m, a 9 per cent increase on this time last year.
Pannones managing partner Joy Kingsley said: “If we grow at the same rate we'll expect to reach £20m by the end of the year.”
In the financial year 2000-2001 the firm grossed £17.8m. If Kingsley's predictions are correct, Pannones could see a turnover increase of a little more than 12 per cent this year.
Kingsley attributes much of the firm's growth to new work. Since the beginning of the financial year, the firm has been appointed to various panels, including those of the Office for the Supervision of Solicitors, Vodafone and Manchester University.
