Stephenson Harwood’s (SH) Kuwaiti alliance firm ASAR – Al Ruwayeh & Partners is to expand its reach by launching an office in Qatar.
Partner Sam Habbas, who is in charge of the firm’s international development, said nothing had yet been formalised, but that the firm is “heading in that direction” and that the office would launch “in the next year”.
The office will focus on corporate and commercial along with banking and finance work, with no more than three lawyers manning the outpost.
Habbas also hinted that a number of ASAR’s clients were well-placed to get, or were already engaged on, Fifa World Cup-related projects.
“A lot of people look at the Gulf as a single entity now,” said Habbas. “We do a lot of work throughout the Gulf area and have clients from every country in the region, and we’ve got to the point where we need to be in more locations.”
