Weightmans finance litigation partner Verona Cocks has joined Matthew Arnold & Baldwin (MAB) as a ­partner. Cocks set up and ran the Midlands commercial dispute resolution and insolvency department at her old firm after joining in 2006.

Winston & Strawn regulatory and technology practice head Barry Vitou has joined the dispute resolution team at Pinsent Masons as a partner. Vitou is joined at the City firm by senior associate Danvers Baillieu.

Finers Stephens Innocent has hired Edwin Coe employment partner David Evans. His arrival comes just 12 months after joining the City firm as a partner from White & Case, where he had been a senior associate.

Offshore firm Ogier has grown its London offering with the hire of Oliver Godwin as a ­partner. Funds specialist Godwin joins from Carey Olsen, where he was a senior associate.

He has previously worked for Ogier in the Cayman Islands.


Hertfordshire firm Collins Solicitors has ­promoted two lawyers to partner. The two new partners are civil litigation specialist Danielle ­Holliday and Will Collins, who advises on all aspects of family work.

South East firm Cripps Harries Hall has recruited Paul Skelton to front its social housing group. Skelton joins from Devonshires ­Solicitors, becoming the 39th partner at the Tunbridge Wells-based firm.


Flint Bishop has hired David Miller as a ­partner. Miller has also been named head of ­commercial at the East Midlands firm, having joined from Newcastle-under-Lyme outfit Knights Solicitors, where he was an associate.



Yorkshire firm Lupton Fawcett has bolstered its commercial property team with the addition of Zoe Lang and Jackie O’Sullivan as executives in its Leeds office.


White & Case asset and aviation finance partner Thomas McDonald has relocated from Bucharest to Moscow. US-qualified McDonald had previously spent 10 years in the firm’s Paris office.

Norton Rose property specialist Peter Burrows, who has been head of the firm’s China practice since 2008, will take over from Valentina Gluhovskaya as head of Moscow. Burrows will remain head of the firm’s China practice, dividing his time between Beijing and Moscow.

Nixon Peabody has beefed up its Paris employment team with the hire of Ludovic Roche as a partner. Roche joins from the Paris office of SNR Denton, where he was head of the French labour and employment team. He is joined by two associates: Silvy Crespo in Paris and Claire Lintingre, who will split her time between London and Paris.

Ince & Co transactional partner Peter Measures has relocated to Dubai from the

firm’s London office.

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has launched a Hong Kong law practice and hired Norton Rose Chinese corporate finance head Freeman Chan as a partner for the group.

O’Melveny & Myers counsel Geoffrey Chan has joined Ropes & Gray’s Hong Kong investment funds group as a partner.

Offshore firm Harneys has hired a trio of lawyers in its Hong Kong office, taking the lawyer headcount to eight. The new arrivals are ex-Rahmat Lim & Partners banking and finance partner Cheng Cheng Tan, former Gide Loyrette Nouel M&A lawyer Kane Guo, and newly qualified Zhao Feifel, who also joins the banking and finance group.


Hogan Lovells has grown its Washington DC energy regulatory offering with the hire of McDermott Will & Emery partner Michael Yuffee as a partner. Yuffee headed the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s regulatory practice at his former firm.

Bingham McCutchen has hired former ­assistant US attorney Daniel Saunders as a ­partner in its Santa Monica-based white collar investigations and enforcement group. He joins from the US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, where he was deputy chief of the violent and organised crime section.


Mourant Ozannes has hired three lawyers. Investment funds specialist Simon Palmer has joined as a partner in Jersey from Maples & Calder along with ­Caroline Spottiswoode, who arrives as an ­associate. Meanwhile, Walkers

partner Robert Duggan bolsters the London investment funds group as a partner.
