Cobbetts has snagged Hammonds’ former finance head to boost its corporate practice.
Patrick Mitchell joined the Leeds office of Cobbetts at the start of February, becoming the third Hammonds partner this year to switch to the regional firm. At the end of January Birmingham construction partners James Bessey and Mark Robinson announced they were moving to Cobbetts.
Mitchell, who stepped down as Hammonds’ finance head two years ago, specialises in acquisition and corporate finance. He said that one of the things attracting him to Cobbetts was its active public markets team, which has done 13 AIM deals in the past year according to The Lawyer’s forthcoming AIM survey.
Leeds corporate head Guy Jackson said that Cobbetts was committed to growing its expertise in the regions, with the aim of being the UK’s “leading regional law firm”.
