The Criminal Bar Association has established a scholarship to honour the memory of top advocate Michael Kalisher QC, who died last year aged 55. The Kalisher Scholarship, which is scheduled to begin in 1988, will give graduates financial support during their Bar vocational course and/or through pupillage. "We are targeting those students of modest background who might not otherwise stick to the career path leading to the Bar, as well as helping those of exceptional promise," said CBA chair Anne Rafferty QC. Kalisher, who was head of chambers at 1 Hare Court, was a popular and respected member of the Bar. He died last September after suffering a brain tumour.
