On a more positive note, it is good to see that Law Society president Phillip Sycamore intends to show some leadership to the profession on the issue of multidisciplinary practices (MDPs).

He is set to tell the profession that they should not fear mdps and, indeed, should not assume that accountancy firms would lead the way.

The fact is that mdps are an unknown quantity to most lawyers but present very interesting business opportunities.

Sycamore has so far shown the leadership required in confronting the MDPs question. As such, this is hopefully one area in which the Law Society can set the agenda.
