Civil liberties specialist Bindman & Partners is facing a £250,000 lawsuit brought by a former client, who says the firm’s negligence prevented him from suing his employer for unfair dismissal.
IT project manager Jeffery Harvey-Wells is bringing the claim against Bindman. He says the firm failed to file his case for unfair dismissal against his former employer Wilco International (now ADP Wilco) within the limitation period.
In early 2004 an employment tribunal threw out Harvey-Wells’ case because it was out of time. Harvey-Wells claims the firm’s negligence led to him missing out on damages, including loss of earnings of £53,500 and £170,000 in lost commission.
Browne Jacobson is acting for Bindman, which declined to comment. David Wedgwood at Anthony Gold is instructing Helen Hobhouse of Farrar’s Building for Harvey-Wells.
