Controversy surrounding the European Court of Justice's development of community law will be discussed at an SJ Berwin & Co seminar on Wednesday this week.
Ralph Cohen, a partner in the firm's EU and competition department, said speakers include a judge, barrister and solicitor who had extensive experience of dealing with the European Court of Justice.
“I'm hoping we might also get some personal reflections on their greatest cases or worst cases,” said Cohen.
This is the sixth and final seminar the firm has run over the past six months, held in association with the European Commission.
Speakers include Lord Slynn of Hadley, former judge at the European Court of Justice, and Jeremy Lever QC, who recently retired as head of Four Raymond Buildings and has extensive experience in front of the European Court of Justice and the European Commission.
Head of SJ Berwin & Co's EU & competition department Stephen Kon, who regularly appears before the European Court of Justice, will also speak.
“It is relatively rare for speakers from the European Community institutions to come to London to speak, particularly to the clients and contacts of a specific law firm,” said Cohen.
