Food for thought

Bevan Brittan recently opened a shiny cafe in its spanking new offices down by the River Avon. Being a touchy-feely sort of place, the management decided it would be a good idea to run a competition to name its new eatery, with two bottles of champers up for grabs for the winner.

Maybe they’re paying them too much down there, but two bottles was not enough to entice anyone to come up with anything interesting. Entries included ‘Bevan’s Bistro’ and the frankly shocking ‘The Riverside’, as in ‘it’s by a river’. Genius.

Tulkinghorn’s favourite is Stuart’s Scoffery, named in honour of managing partner Stuart Whitfield. The competition is still open, by the way, if any outsiders fancy entering (although Tulkinghorn can’t guarantee the prize).
