Linklaters is boosting its Iberian expertise with the hire of Spanish corporate partner Sebastián Albella.
As first revealed on www. thelawyer.com (7 June), Alb-ella joins Linklaters’ Madrid office from Spanish independent Albella Palá Ramón & Cajal, where he was a founding partner. He brings with him two senior associates.
Prior to creating the firm, Albella was a Spanish government lawyer and headed the legal function of the Spanish Securities & Exchange Commission. He was involved in drafting the current Spanish Securities Market Act and the current Banking Act and advised on three of Spain’s four IPOs in 2004.
Madrid-based corporate partner Alejandro Ortiz said: “Spain has been a tremendous success in a small period of time. Sebastián is great because he’s really a person who can give us a very strong penetration into corporates.”
l Linklaters has also boosted its Japanese practice with the appointment of tax and corporate specialist Hidehiro Utsumi from Japanese firm Nishimura & Partners as a partner.
