Hammonds Direct to disclose accounts

The Hammonds Direct partnership has been ordered to disclose its accounts as the row over the £2.3m cash call continues.

The disclosure was ordered at Cambridge County Court. The move comes after The Lawyer reported that Hammonds Direct partner Stephen York was fighting a partnership cash call to the conveyancing company after it collapsed earlier this year (The Lawyer, 18 March).

Hammonds Direct has been ordered to provide the accounts for the volume business and the partnership resolution by today (13 July). A hearing date will then be set.

Hammonds Direct partners Mark Hilton and John Heller are representing the partnership in the matter, instructing Walker Morris and Hilary Stonefrost from 3-4 South Square.

York has instructed Patricia Edwards of the Chambers of Ian Milligan.

Last month The Lawyer reported that Hammonds was gearing up for a legal battle with the Hammonds Direct partnership over the lease obligations for
the company’s Bradford office space (The Lawyer, 15 June).
