Bristol’s Veale Wasbrough set for City merger

Bristol firm Veale Wasbrough has taken its first steps into the London market by seeking a merger with 17-partner City firm Vizards Tweedie.

The two firms are in talks that, if successful, would create a firm with a combined turnover of £22m.

Vizards, a law firm and parliamentary agent, has practice areas in property, commercial, family and private client, among others.

Veale managing partner Simon Heald said the two firms had been in discussions for several months and pointed to synergies in charities, private client, real estate and public sector. He described the move as “a great step forward”.

Veale rents office space in London but does not have any partners stationed there.

The combined firm would have 330 staff, 46 partners and offices in Bristol and Fetter Lane, London.
