New York's Chadbourne & Parke has lost two more senior lawyers from its project finance team after clashes over international expansion.
Nancy Persechino, former managing partner of the firm's London office, and New York-based special counsel Robert Bohme have joined the Washington DC office of Texan firm Baker & Botts. They follow the departure of ex-project head Rigdon Boykin, who set up the expensive Hong Kong and London practices.
The Asian finance practice was hit by the economic downturn, while the London practice lost all its English lawyers amid allegations that its US partners were not committing sufficient time to the office.
Current project finance head Chaim Wachsberger conceded that the London office had suffered because commitment to the office “was not sufficiently focused before”. He said the firm would start again in London – and promised that London would be a priority now that Asian finance has dried up.
Meanwhile Baker & Botts opened in London in February and also plans to open an office in Baku, Azerbaijan.
