Anglo-Danish firm Orr Rosenfalck has entered an alliance with Denmark's specialist new technology firm von Haller and recruited its first Swedish lawyer

The firms share a Copenhagen office, and the alliance with seven-lawyer von Haller is the first step to a full merger.

Orr senior partner Steen Rosenfalck said: “We'd like to do a merger but are taking a step-by-step approach. Hope-fully in the next 18 months we're flying, or we're dead.”

Orr was formed in February 2002 with a view to becoming the premier Anglo-Nordic firm for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). “There are no competitors with a focus on SMEs. Some have an associated firm or alliance, but I don't believe they're integrated,” said Rosenfalck.

The firm's first Swedish lawyer is Johan Åkerud, who joined from São Paulo's Boc-cuzzi Advogados Associados.
