Work Life Quiz: Elizabeth Saunders, BPE

What was your worst experience as a trainee?

Turning up to a hearing in full robes when it was in chambers. I was a little overenthusiastic in those days.

What time do you usually leave the office?

When the boss isn’t looking.

What do you do at weekends?

Socialise. And then exercise to make up for socialising. And ride horses. But not when it rains.

If you weren’t a lawyer what would you have been?

Unemployed, probably.

What’s your favourite film?

True Romance.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Stand and Deliver by Adam and the Ants. Spot the connection between daylight robbery and my chosen profession.

Who’s your hero and why?

Russell Crowe as Maximus. Do you really need to ask why?

What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?

Not believing in myself and putting too much belief in others. In the modern world, the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of self-doubt.

What car do you drive?

No idea. I’m a natural blonde. It’s a lovely shade of grey, if that helps.

What book are you currently reading?

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill.

What’s your favourite children’s book?

Winnie the Pooh. You can live your life by the Pooh philosophy. Are you Tigger or Eeyore?

What’s the most exciting deal/case you’ve worked on and why?

Suing Kate Moss. Twice. And winning. Twice.

What’s the worst partner conference location you’ve attended and why?

Breakfast at a local restaurant. I’m not at my best before about 3.15 in the afternoon.

What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?

Like the film, 48 hours.

If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you?

Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with and why?

Tony Blair. And isn’t it obvious why?

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (in any order)

I’m results-driven; I don’t care what other people think of me; I like kittens.
