Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) has appointed its sixth partner for its Madrid office with the hire of former Landwell litigation head Luis Rufilanchas.
Rufilanchas joins DAC from listed property company Inmocaral, where he built up a close relationship with the firm. His move follows the recent sale of Inmocaral for €183m (£125m).
Prior to joining the company in 2001, Rufilanchas was the head of litigation for PricewaterhouseCoopers-tied firm Landwell.
His expertise covers litigation, with a focus on property, and he will advise Spanish companies operating not only in Spain but also in Latin America, the UK, France and Germany.
Rufilanchas’s practice will complement that of existing Madrid partner Javier de Dios, who specialises in non-contentious property and planning law.
DAC Madrid managing partner Pablo Wesolowski said the hire was a testament to the firm’s growing Spanish reputation.
DAC has been present in Spain for over a decade, and advises 40 per cent of the Spanish insurance market. The firm also has an office in Mexico to complement its presence in Madrid.
The hire comes shortly after the appointment of Spanish-born associate Sonia Bustos to DAC’s London property team.
