Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) is kick-starting a new insurance regulatory and brokers group with the hire of a partner from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
Patrick Devine, a partner in the London office of Akin since 1998, will further boost RPC’s corporate insurance practice, which is being restructured simultaneously.
Regulatory insurance work will be carried out by a group of 22 lawyers, which will work closely with the firm’s corporate practice
and its more traditional insurance department.
Devine’s practice covers all areas of regulatory and corporate insurance and reinsurance work, including the insurance aspects of structured and project finance transactions and the establishment of insurance operations worldwide.
RPC head of insurance Tim Brown said Devine’s appointment comes at a time of increasing emphasis on insurance regulation and demand for regulatory advice.
The arrival of Devine follows the recent partner appointments of Ron Nobbs and Michael Blackburne to RPC’s construction department, bringing the total number of partners in the firm to 62.
