Stress fest
In case you missed it, last Wednesday (7 November) was National Ban Bullying at Work Day and National Stress Awareness Day. But celebrating them at the same time is quite stressful, as lawyers at Stephenson Harwood may well know.
On Workplace Law Network (www.workplacelaw.net) the firm detailed a five-point plan to evaluate stress levels. But the plan is quite demanding, vague and… well… stressful. First you must “decide which employees are at risk and how”, then you have to “evaluate the level of risk and take action to prevent it”, and finally you should “record the results of the assessment and incorporate them into an action plan”.

Blogging the limelight
Is it that time already? The Annual Blog Awards are upon us again, so it’s time to role out the virtual red carpet and celebrate our favourite blogging stars. You can check out the 10 legal blog nominations at http://2007.weblogawards.org.
One of the more unusual nominees is Simple Justice (http://blog.simplejustice.us), a New York criminal defence blog. Now there’s a blogger with clients that makes the GC100 look like pussycats.
There’s a hard edge to the blogger’s tone. “Before anyone calls me for legal advice, please understand that I am a lawyer, and, as such, I represent clients for a fee. I am not a free nationwide legal helpline. If that disappoints you, I apologize, but I do not give out free legal advice.”

Swarmy get
Prepare yourself for some new business jargon that is being cooked up in the US of A. The word is ‘Brainswarm’ and it is being pioneered by American law firm analyst Rob Millard (www.robmillard.com).
Millard says: “Brainswarming uses swarm theory to solicit firmwide input into a firm’s strategic planning process, using a dedicated enterprise blogging platform as a tool.”
Just nod and smile if someone ever mentions it in a meeting. Nod and smile.
