Lovells has re-elected John Young as the firm’s senior partner after he stood unopposed for the position.

Young, who first took up the role in May 2004, will serve until the end of April 2012 after being voted in at the firm’s annual partnership conference in Barcelona on Friday night (9 November).

Young said: “It is a considerable honour to be re-elected to this role. I shall look forward with great pleasure to taking a central role in the continuing development of the firm over the next four years.

“The legal profession continues to undergo a huge amount of change. Ensuring that we are highly commercial and client focused in very competitive markets around the world while retaining the best aspects of genuine partnership is an important objective for me in this role. “

During his time as senior partner Young has overseen a number of initiatives at the firm including an overhaul of the partnership lockstep. As revealed on www.thelawyer.com last week (8 November) the firm is currently in discussions about introducing a lower lockstep to allow partners in economically weaker jurisdictions to enter the equity.
