Linklaters’ global head of tax Guy Brannan is standing down after two terms in the role, with partner Yash Rupal set to take on the position.

Yash, a partner at Linklaters since 1996, will lead a firm-wide team of 170 lawyers advising on tax issues including M&A, corporate finance, restructuring and contentious matters across multi-jurisdictions.

Brannan, who held the tax chief post for decade, will remain at the magic circle firm focusing on expanding his practice and engaging in full-time client work.

Simon Davies, Linklaters firmwide managing partner elect, said: “Rupal is ideally placed to build Linklaters’ reputation as the firm of choice for tax advice.

“Yash has enjoyed enormous success in building our tax-based finance practice in recent years and we are looking at replicating that success across a broader range of products including M&A and corporate finance transactions on a global basis.”
