The London office of US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has been overlooked in the firm’s latest round of promotions.
Cleary announced 19 promotions in its global offices, none of which are in London.
European offices Brussels, Frankfurt/Cologne, Paris, Rome/Milan and Moscow all received promotions.
In 2006 the firm promoted eight to partner, three in the US, three in continental Europe and two in the UK. In 2005, the London office had just one promotion to partner.
The firm promoted eight to the partnership, bringing the total number of partners firmwide to 196. The firm also promoted 11 associates to counsel.
Beijing received one promotion to counsel.
The US offices faired the best in this round of promotions. Three Cleary lawyers were promoted to partner with two associates being promoted to counsel.
