West Coast firm Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker has ramped up its London real estate practice by poaching senior Linklaters partner Jeffrey Bailey.
Bailey, who has spent his entire career with Linklaters, was head of European real estate when the firm was Linklaters & Alliance, and then took on the role of head of European marketing in the group.
He has previously acted for Cisco Systems, Land Securities, the BBC and London Electricity. He has also advised a number of Dutch and German funds on inward investments into the UK.
“This is the first partner hire from a magic circle firm, so it’s a very exciting development for us,” said Joel Simon, managing partner of the London office.
Bailey joins Nigel Heilpern, who was recruited from Nabarro Nathanson in 2001, and US partner Mark Eagan as the third partner in the London real estate department. He will head Paul Hastings’ European real estate practice.
Bailey’s departure comes after Linklaters last year announced that real estate would no longer be a core focus for the firm.
