Internet travel company Expedia has lost corporate travel lawyer Flavia Richardson to online competitor Opodo, but Expedia European general counsel Luisa Edwards said a replacement is expected soon.

In keeping with the travel theme, former general counsel David Hickson finally resurfaced last month, after taking some well-earned time off to travel after the sale of the online travel agent. Hickson, who had been hotly tipped for the eBay general counsel role, which still remains vacant after more than four months, was able to find a home for his love of new media internet start-ups, taking a position at – a niche IT firm that operates across technology platforms to keep overheads down.

eBay, meanwhile, continues to operate its legal function under the guidance of acting legal director Paul Drake. It suffered another loss last month when senior IP counsel Jo Grist left to become head of trademarks at pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline. Grist fills the position vacated by Georgy Evans, who moved to Shell. eBay filled the IP vacancy with the move of Francine Lyle from its US legal team.

Barrister Emma Dixon returned to practice at Blackstone Chambers after four years working with the Government Legal Service, where she helped to develop an implement the employment directive and advised the Government on medical ethics.
