Landwell, the legal arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, is attacking the Hungarian market by linking up with local firm Dezso Reti & Antall.
The alliance, which will allegedly create Hungary’s largest firm, is the accountant’s third foray into eastern Europe after setting up links with firms in Poland and Russia.
The Budapest-based firm hopes to boost its e-commerce practice through the alliance as Landwell specialises in IT and telecoms.
The link-up follows a period of growth in the Hungarian legal market.
Just two weeks ago, Allen & Overy announced that it was expanding its Hungarian office with the appointment of a further five associates, including an in-house lawyer from ING Bank to add to the two others the firm had already picked up from the bank (The Lawyer, 5 June). The recruitments bring A&O’s number of lawyers in Budapest to 20.
