K&L Gates has opened a new German office in Frankfurt with the hire of two Simmons & Simmons partners.
The office will focus on corporate, M&A and finance, and will be led by Simmons partners Mathias Schulze Steinen and Frank Thomas.
The Frankfurt office is K&L Gates’ second office in Germany, following the firm’s opening in Berlin two years ago.
The firm’s chairman and global managing partner Peter Kalis said in a statement that the Berlin office had more than doubled in size since then.
He added: “Now, we have this extraordinary opportunity to expand our German team into the finance capital of continental Europe with its promising links to London, Paris, the US, and Asia, as well as within the German marketplace itself.”
K&L Gates now has 40 lawyers based in Germany, focusing primarily on corporate, real estate, TMT, and regulatory work.
