Teleworking increases productivity and profitability and is the way forward for law firms, according to Christopher Davis, chief executive of City firm Davis & Co.

Speaking at the Telework UK '96 conference in Docklands in November, Davis said teleworking was a key factor in reducing overheads because it liberates firms from the need for expensive office space.

"Teleworking improves the quality of service to clients because it makes advisers more accessible, produces more innovative services and reduces fees," Davis explained. "Fee earners also benefit from improved quality of life." He added that in-house solicitors were enthusiastic about the firm's electronic data system.

Davis & Co is believed to be the only City firm with 30 Senior Associates all teleworking.
