Eversheds farms out IT systems

Eversheds has outsourced its IT systems to Computacenter Services in a £27m deal.

Under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations, 79 Eversheds staff members will transfer to Computacenter as part of the deal.

Eversheds UK managing partner Bryan Hughes said: “We’re a law firm, not a specialist IT provider and this, coupled with the fact that we had finite internal resources, meant that we could never be at the cutting edge of legal technology.”

Computacenter will manage Eversheds’ IT helpdesk, deskside support and datacentre hosting.

The deal follows news that Clifford Chance is investing in offshore operations for a range of its IT operations rather than outsourcing the work, as revealed by The Lawyer last week (4 June). Allen & Overy was the first law firm to sign a large IT outsourcing deal.
