A group of eleven Midlands law firms have clubbed together with The College of Law to launch a Birmingham-based commercial property training programme for junior lawyers.
Cobbetts, HBJ Gately Wareing, Martineau Johnson, Mills & Reeve, Needham James, Pinsent Masons, Reed Smith Richards Butler, Shakespeare Putsman, Shoosmiths, The Wilkes Partnership and Wragge & Co are participating in the venture.
Lawyers at the zero to three years PQE level will be able to embark on the entire 10-course programme across the areas of letting, management, investment and development, or alternatively select individual courses to supplement firm-based training.
Colin Davey, the College of Law’s Director of Post-Qualification Programmes said that discussions with law firms over the last two years showed that there was a clear need for such an offering.
Courses provided on subjects such as managing the investment, corporate support and basic issues on site assembly are between one and two days in length are billed by the college as being highly interactive and focusing on practical tasks.
The college already has similar post-qualification training programmes based in London, Manchester and Scotland.
