Olswang announces corp head's departure

Olswang's high-billing former head of corporate Adrian Bott has left the firm

According to an internal Olswang email, he departed last Friday (8 January) to “seek pastures new”. Bott is not yet signed up to another firm, but said: “I'm finalising talks with a small number of parties.”
Olswang agreed that Bott should leave despite not having secured his next job. It is a convenient time for the firm as he is not currently involved in any major transactions.
Bott worked on the summer 2000 flotation of Carphone Warehouse as well as its Mviva joint venture with AOL. But according to a source close to the client, Carphone Warehouse uses Ashurst Morris Crisp for the bulk of its corporate work.
Recently, Bott secured Olswang a place on publishing giant Emap's legal panel. He has also handled high-level corporate transactions for BBC Worldwide.
Because Bott's next move has not been finalised, it is uncertain which of his clients will follow him.
Olswang senior partner Marx Devereux said: “As always, it is up to the clients to decide where they go.”
