Shepherds has grand designs

Partners at Shepherd and Wedderburn are preparing to shell out £5m to finance the cost of moving to new headquarters in the Scottish capital.

The firm’s Edinburgh office is currently situated in the city’s Saltire Court, but will move to new premises at Exchange Crescent in May.

Chief executive Patrick Andrews says at 60,000sq ft the new office is 20 per cent bigger than the existing site.

“We’ve been in the current office for 14 years and would have to do a refurbishment to stay there,” says Andrews. “It makes sense to move as it will give us an office that’s fit for purpose and will also have space for expansion.”

The firm has signed a 15-year lease with landlord Standard Life on the new building and is funding the £5m cost of fitting it out with a mixture of revenue and capital.

The new office will offer a mixture of open plan and cellular accommodation with single and double rooms. So if you’re struggling to find a hotel during the festival…Get the latest news and an irreverent commentary delivered to your desktop every day by subscribing to Lawyer News Daily.
