Washington DC-based Steptoe & Johnson has opened a New York office with two new partners.
Securities and derivatives litigation partner John Lovi joins Steptoe from McDermott Will & Emery. Evan Barr has rejoined Steptoe after a long spell in government service, where he was assistant US attorney and chief of the major crimes unit of the US attorney’s office.
Initially the New York office will focus on white collar crime. The firm’s national white collar head Reid Weingarten will be based in New York on a part-time basis.
Bankruptcy partner Greg Yates has also relocated to New York. In addition to criminal and bankruptcy work, Steptoe anticipate working on insurance, mass tort and commercial litigation matters.
