US firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has opened an office in Taiwan to provide IP services to technology clients there.
Orrick has named the office Orrick Foreign Legal Affairs Attorneys at Law. It is Orrick’s second base in Asia after Tokyo.
Other than IP work, the firm has also been involved in Taiwanese securitisations as transactional counsel for Chinatrust Commercial Bank.
The firm is looking to expand further in Asia after doubling the size of its Tokyo operation in 2004.
