Ukrainian independent firm Magister & Partners has boosted its Moscow office with two new partners.

The firm has hired Andrey Shevchenko, legal director at energy company Rosneft, and John Patrick Ryan, a counsel at Russin & Vecchi. Shevchenko will develop a practice focusing on M&A and corporate deals in the oil and gas sector. Ryan specialises in cross-border real estate and capital market transactions in Russia.

Magister has been taking advantage of the active Central and Eastern European market to build its practice, hiring partner Volodymyr Baibarza from Chadbourne & Parke in May this year.

The firm followed this with the hires of Jason Bruzdzinski as chief operating officer from research centre Mitre Corporation in September and UniCredit board member Sergey Karaganov as senior adviser.
