Olswang is looking to improve its financial management after hiring Clifford Chance’s former US finance director Frans Post as chief financial officer.
Olswang managing partner David Stewart said the move was an attempt to make Olswang’s lawyers more financially literate.
“We’re keen to focus on better financial management and Frans’ hire is part of that push,” added Stewart.
The firm is already run fairly tightly. Its 90-day lockup target was missed by just five days last year.
Post is a qualified accountant who worked for 17 years in senior finance and management roles in Clifford Chance’s Amsterdam and New York offices.
His remit at Olswang will include helping the firm introduce more discipline on billing and time-recording.
Post joined Olswang after a short spell at legal market consultancy Temporal Tanja Consulting.
