US firm White & Case has picked up a top Thai corporate law firm to boost its presence in Bangkok.
The firm has 40 lawyers, including four partners, and will boost that by two partners and
five other lawyers with the takeover of local firm Nopadol & Khaisri, one of the top corporate and commerical firms in the country. The firm advises both Thai and international clients.
Weerawong Chittmittrapap, executive partner at White & Case’s Bangkok office, says: “Thailand is rapidly becoming one of Asia’s major finance centres.”
The two name partners of the Thai firm, Nopadol Intralib and Khaisri Utaiwan, will become partners of White & Case – and the Thai firm will take on the name of the US firm.
Intralib says: “Given the growth in international transactions, we now need instant access to international cross-border legal skills.”
