Manchester-based James Chapman & Co has appointed Hill Dickinson partner Alison Hart to launch a dedicated fraud unit.
Hart, who has been a partner at Hill Dickinson since 1992, specialises in insurance fraud and policy disputes.
One of the most high-profile cases she has dealt with was the £4.5m fraudulent claim made by Lord Brocket, who alleged the theft of four classic cars. He was subsequently jailed and sentenced to prison for five years.
James Chapman managing partner Elisabeth Taylor said: “Alison’s position is an important lateral hire for the firm, offering a new service which we will now be able to market to existing insurance clients and to win new clients in the sector. This is undoubtedly a growth area and we plan to develop a dedicated fraud unit.”
