Linklaters‘ London-based global head of finance and projects John Tucker is relocating to New York to become the firm’s managing partner for the Americas.
Tucker, who was originally seen as a favourite to succeed Tony Angel as firmwide managing partner, will assume the role of the Americas chief with responsibility for the New York and São Paulo offices within Linklaters’ global network.
Simon Davies, Linklaters managing partner-elect, who pipped Tucker to the firmwide manager post in February, said: “Building a powerful presence in the US is a key strategic priority. I’m excited about the opportunities that John Tucker’s relocation will create, particularly for building new and deeper client relationships in the US market.”
The magic circle firm said the move reflects the firm’s commitment to fulfilling its clients’ needs and expanding its US offering.
In addition to Tucker’s relocation, Linklaters has also appointed US partners Larry Byrne and Nick Rees as co-managing partners in New York.
Paul Wickes will continue as US senior partner, concentrating on steering the firm’s US expansion and business development strategies.
