Food company General Mills has restructured its legal team after veteran Europe legal director Roger Gardner announced he will be retiring next summer.
Gardner has led the company’s legal operations in Europe since 2001. He took on the role after his previous company Pillsbury was acquired by General Mills.
The company has now appointed former assistant general counsel Wilson Lundsgaard as Europe legal director and created a new position of legal director for UK and Ireland.
The company is currently recruiting for the role and hopes to appoint someone by 2011.
“We decided that we needed someone devoted to the UK and Ireland side of the business because it’s grown so much recently,” said Gardner. “They’ll be part of our international legal team.”
The new UK and Ireland head will report to vice president and deputy general counsel Eric Wedepohl.
