Irwin Mitchell hires top Halliwell Landau partner

Irwin Mitchell has poached the head of pensions at Manchester firm Halliwell Landau to lead its national pensions practice in Leeds.

Anne Taylor is recognised as one of the leading pensions lawyers in the North West. She will head the pensions group in the company and commercial department of Irwin Mitchell when the firm moves from Sheffield in November.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity,” says Taylor. “There are already some strong pensions departments in Leeds but I think the type of client in the North West means there is still room for more. I certainly intend to develop a competitive practice.”

Taylor spent seven years at Hammond Suddards in Leeds before joining Halliwell Landau four years ago.

“Irwin Mitchell are certainly putting resources into the practice area,” she says. “I will be building on the strong client base the firm already has and expanding on that.”

Managing partner at Irwin Mitchell's Leeds office Kevin Cunningham says: “We are definitely looking to expand our pensions work and following Anne's arrival we will continue to grow the team.

“Pensions is an integral part of the service supplied to our clients.”

Halliwell Landau partner Ian Austin says: “We wish Anne well with her career and every success in the future.”

Irwin Mitchell has also appointed Pinsent Curtis' Alisdair Kirkpatrick as a partner in its commercial property department. Kirkpatrick will join the Birmingham office in October.
