Gowling WLG is to retain 84 per cent of its trainee solicitors reaching qualification this September.

The firm is keeping on 21 of 25 qualifiers in newly-qualified (NQ) solicitor roles. Twelve of them will work in London and nine in the firm’s Birmingham office.

Last autumn, the firm kept 17 of 23 qualifiers (78 per cent)

Meanwhile, Ince & Co offered jobs to all of its 10 final seat trainees, with nine accepting.

Two of them have qualified internationally, with one going to Monaco and one to the firm’s Dubai office. HR director Andrew Jameson said: “The success of our graduate trainee programme is testament to the open and inclusive culture at the firm.”

Browne Jacobson has recorded 77 per cent retention for the year. All four qualifiers stayed on in March and six of nine have been retained this autumn. Overall, four of the ten who are staying are in Nottingham, three in Birmingham, two in Manchester and one in London.
