In brief: New code of practice for Scottish lawyers

In Scotland, a code of practice for solicitors carrying out criminal legal assistance came into effect on 1 October. The code is designed to assure clients that there is a consistent quality of service. To obtain legal aid, solicitors must sign up to it.
