The Lawyer’s In-House Counsel as Business Partner conference comes to an end today. If there is one key message to take away it’s the words of Cranfield School of Management’s Paul Hughes.

In his session, entitled when being a good lawyer isn’t enough’, Hughes spoke about the qualities that CEOs look for in their general counsel and why in-house counsel need to be more commercial.

And for any GCs who thought they commerciality tapped, he had a message: “The challenge isn’t that you are too commercial, it’s that you’re not commercial enough.”
