What’s your most vivid memory from being a trainee?
Feeling like an imposter.
What is the wisest thing anyone ever said to you (and who said it)?
In the leadership context: “Do less. Be more.” The sense of this was to empower others and then have their back rather than trying to be involved in everything. It is harder than it sounds. I can’t remember who said it to me but it has proven to be sound
Who (for better or worse) has been the most influential person in your career? Why?
In recent years… Matt Meyer. We agreed to lead TV as a team in 2008 and that has proved to be a positive and complementing partnership ever since.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to get to where you are/do the job you do?
Surround yourself with great people and focus on giving them the context to be their best – clarity of purpose and safety to push themselves.
What’s your best friend from law school doing now?
Ash Raivadera. He leads a successful legal recruitment business in Singapore, where he has lived for the last 20 years
