Heuking raid threatens Haarman Cologne closure

The Cologne office of German firm Haarmann Hemmelrath is in danger of closing after five partners decided to leave for Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek.

Partners Jörg aus der Fünten, Thorsten Kuthe, Mirko Sickinger, Rolf Uecker, Thomas Windhövel and two associates are set to move to Heuking to boost its corporate team.

Haarmann Hemmelrath Cologne capital markets partner Andreas Lehmann has opted not to join his colleagues but will transfer to the firm’s Frankfurt office.

The move leaves Haarmann Hemmelrath with a greatly reduced presence in Cologne and probably means the end of the office, which was set up in 2000.

Haarmann Hemmelrath has been plagued with partner departures over the last few months including the announcement this week that tax partner Thomas Winkemann is leaving its Berlin office to join Görg Rechtsanwalt.
