Herbert Smith has and scooped corporate rivals Freshfields to strengthen its ties with IT supplier LogicaCMG, after advising on its £882m purchase of Sweden’s WM-data.
LogicaCMG retains both Herbert Smith and Freshfields for transactional work, but has given the last two deals to Herbert Smith. In September last year Herbert Smith advised Logica on its £627m acquisition of Unilog.
Laurence Gueddes, general counsel at LogicaCMG, said: “We thought Herbert Smith were a better fit for the requirements on this transaction. We were very pleased with the work on the last transaction.”
Partners Michael Shaw and Will Pearce led the Herbert Smith team in London, with Setterwalls partners Jan Jansen and Soren Sorensen advising on Swedish legal matters. Gueddes and Sarah Jones-Wilkinson led the LogicaCMG in-house team.
White & Case’s Stockholm office advised WM-data.
