Heller revisits WilmerHale for second raid in the City

Heller Ehrman has made a second raid on WilmerHale to augment the hires of three corporate partners two weeks ago.

The West Coast firm has returned for tax partner Christopher Prout and senior corporate associate Scott Leonard-Morgan, who both join Heller as partners, together with three more corporate associates, as first revealed on www.thelawyer. com (27 February).

Heller chairman Matthew Larrabee said: “As well as providing day-to-day counselling and assisting with cross-border matters, Chris will continue to help US corporations translate equity compensation models into European form, which will play an increasingly important role in our UK and European practice.”

The second raid comes barely six weeks after The Lawyer revealed the opening of Heller’s London office (www. thelawyer.com, 16 January).

The firm has since recruited corporate partners Richard Eaton, Christopher Grew and Struan Penwarden from WilmerHale and competition lawyer Douglas Lahnborg from Slaughter and May.

Heller is in the opening stages of extending three of its core practices – corporate, real estate and competition – into Europe. It is also extending its Venture Law Group brand to London, a practice that focuses on advising developing companies.

WilmerHale was unavailable for comment.
