Beachcroft Stanleys' former head of health litigation, Gay Wilder, is joining Browne Jacobson to set up a health practice at the firm's London office.
Wilder's appointment coincides with the opening last week of Browne Jacobson's Birmingham office, first revealed in The Lawyer (12 April). The office will concentrate on health and insurance law.
Carole Ayre, head of the medical negligence department will lead a six-partner team in the new office.
A spokesman for Browne Jacobson says Wilder's appointment ties in with the firm's national ambitions. “Health law is a potential growth area, and London fits neatly with our strategic aims over the next three years.”
The health litigation practice at the newly-merged firm Beachcroft Wansbroughs is now headed by Wilder's counterpart at Wansbroughs Willey Hargrave, Diane Hallatt.
Trevor Blythe, head of Beachcroft Wansbroughs' health division, says: “Mergers often make people focus on their career aspirations. I think she just wanted a change.”
