Hammonds, Nortons and Berrymans picked to advise Falconer

Lord Falconer, the Lord Chancellor, has bolstered the panel advising him on legal services and legal education with the appointment of four practising solicitors.

Norton Rose competition head Martin Coleman, Hammonds’ commercial litigation chief Robert Elvin, and Berrymans Lace Mawer partner Valerie Jones have all been appointed to the Legal Services Consultative Panel.

David Glass, former managing partner of Cheltenham firm Willans Solicitors, and Nina Barakzai, a council member of the Internet Service Providers’ Association, have also been appointed to the panel.

Led by Lord Justice Moore-Bick, the panel has an active role in assisting the maintenance and development of standards in the education, training and conduct of legal services providers. It was established in 2000 as an independent body.

Other panel members include Jonathan Goldsmith, secretary-general of the Council and Bars and Law Societes of Europe (CCBE) as well as lay, academic and barrister members.
